Postcard from Sumba
Somewhere between the coast and the countryside, the days started to feel a little longer.
We stayed between two places — Konda Maloba and Sumba Island House — each with its own way of slowing things down. Mornings by the ocean, quiet afternoons, long lunches, and the kind of evenings where you realise you haven’t looked at the time all day.
From Konda, we spent our days moving around the island. Watu Bela, Waikelo Sawah and Weekuri Lagoon. Long drives through the countryside, stopping when something caught our eye.
Small villages along the way. Ikat being woven by hand. Horses wandering through the landscape. A roadside stop here, a swim there.
For a day by the water, Sanubari is worth knowing about. Come for lunch, stay for the afternoon. And if you surf, bring your board.
There wasn't really a plan beyond that.
We let Sumba unfold as it wanted to — slowly, quietly, one place leading to the next.
A little more time outside.
A little more time in the water.
A little more time nowhere in particular.
Postcard from Sumba.
Until next time.
