Friends of Arlo, in conversation with Sheila

Friends of Arlo, in conversation with Sheila

In conversation with Sheila from Bali Interiors.

For our second edition of Friends of Arlo, we sat down with Sheila, founder Bali Interiors and BI Design House; a boutique hotel in Bali that feel less like a place you check into, and more like a space you step into with intention.

BI Design house isnt built around trends or spectacle. Its built around feeling. From the moment you enter, theres quite clarity to the space. Natural textures, considred lines, softened light. Every detail has been chose with pur[ose. Nothing feels accidental.

In our conversation, Sheila shared how BI Design House came to life. What began as a spassion for interiors evolved into into something far more layered: a hospitality concept grounded in storytelling. For her, design isnt about filling a room. It's about shaping an atmosphere. It's about how material interact, how light moves through space, how guests feel when they wake up in the morning.

We spoke about the discipline behind creating something that feels effortless. The balance between structure and creativity. The challenge of designing a boutique hotel that feels intimate, yet distinct. And the importamce of staying true to your point of view in a market that constantly demans newness.

What stands out most is Sheila's belief that hospitality should feel personal. BI Design House reflects that philosophy. It invites guests to slow down, to noce, to experience their surroundings rather than simply pass through them.

As with Friends of Arlo conversations, this wasnt just about business. It was about perspective. About building something meaningful. About creating spaces, whether physical or creative, that carry intention.

BI Design House is a reminder that design, at its best, shapes how we feel.
